Barcodes

Barcodes are printed-on alphanumeric data which consist of binary characters in the form of parallel bars and gaps of varying thickness. These can be scanned optoelectronically by bar code scanners and assigned to a customer or product with the help of a corresponding software.

Magnetic Strips

A magnet stripe is a stripe which is covered in magnetic metal oxide. Magnet stripes are available in different versions which are called HiCo (High Coercivity) and LoCo (Low Coercivity). The difference is the magnetic field strength with which they can be written on.

Type of magent stripe Properties
LoCo 300 Oe Standard, data can be erased by exposure to a magnetic field.
HiCo 2750 Oe accidental deletion nearly impossible, not changeable with standard magnetic heads
HiCo 4000 Oe accidental deletion nearly impossible, not changeable with standard magnetic heads

Memory Chip

Memory chips are shiny gold contact chips that are implanted in plastic cards. In these cards, the chip functions as a data memory that can be written to and read from. The memory chip can usually be recognised by its rectangular shape with 6 golden contact surfaces. Different chip types differ in terms of memory size and available security functions.

Memory chip type Memory size
FM24C02 / Ari24LC02 256 Byte
Ari24LC16 2 KByte
Ari24LC256 32 KByte
Ari24LC512 64 KByte
FM4442 (SLE5542 compatible) 256 KByte
FM4428 (SLE5528 compatible) 1 KByte

Processor Chip

The processor chip belongs to the category of contact chips. Thanks to the integrated microprocessor, the processor chip can process data independently. This makes it possible to execute programs and protect stored data from unauthorised access using cryptographic procedures on the processor. It can be recognised by its usually almost square shape with eight gold or platinum-coloured contact surfaces.

Contactless Chip

Memory chips are shiny gold contact chips that are implanted in plastic cards. In these cards, the chip functions as a data memory that can be written to and read from. The memory chip can usually be recognised by its rectangular shape with 6 golden contact surfaces. Different chip types differ in terms of memory size and available security functions.
